~ Kim H., 2011I've used a 20 oz. Belknap Bluegrass framing hammer for 25+ years but have been unable to find an octagon replacement handle like the original. I've tried a few different brands of hammers to replace it but have been disappointed.
I recently purchased a Douglas 20 oz. framing hammer and am amazed. Great balance and feel. I won't miss my Bluegrass 20 oz. any more, though I still use my 16 oz. for finish work, siding, etc.
I can't recommend the Douglas framing hammer enough... Great hammer, worth every penny.
~ Sonny , 2011This has been the most durable hammer I have ever used I have been in the carpentry for about 30yrs. I do framing and finish carpentry and it works for both areas of carpentry. I had bought a stiello hammer and it broke at the claw area. I am very impress with the douglas hammers. I am wanting to buy me another one. I have only had the hammer for about 6yrs it was given to me by the contractor we do work for.

~ Lisa , 2010I bought this hammer for my husband who is a carpenter about 3years ago. He loves the way the hammer handles any job he uses it on, and the added magnetic nail holder is handy. Now his friend wants one also, but when I went to get one at the store in town they no longer carry the hammer. I found that it is more expensive to buy through the internet but is well worth the cost! All of the other hammers that my husband has had have broken within 2 months where this hammer has lasted through anything he puts it through (which is not an easy job!). I would love to see this product carried in the Tool Crib store again soon!

I was in a car accident and didn't work for almost a year, back at work now and remember how much I love that hammer I've had it for 8 years or longer. So want tell all of you thanks for such a great product to build with. People still want to check it out, with the side puller they like, until I take it back off them. There are four of us and we spend a lot of time fighting over who gets to use them, so I'd like to purchase two more of the 23oz Framers. ~ Jerry , 2010I have two dfi20 hammers. I cannot say how much this style of hammer has helped my elbow and joint pain. I do wish the handles were stronger, both hammers I own had developed cracks in the handle from constant use. Is there a laminated option for this hammer? I have made 2 versions of a laminated handle and both have outlasted the original hickory handles. As you know lamination/forming/shaping/polishing/finishing is time consuming. I would like to to see a laminate option for this handle. It would also be nice to have some checkering (gunstock style) for better grip in cold weather when wearing gloves.

~ Ryan , 2010This is a great hammer, excellent feel, broke my first one right in half (guess I'm hard on tools) then the second was taken by someone feeling they deserved it more than I did. Have tried everything from the the $400 stilleto hammers, antivibes, estwings, the douglas is by far the best. However I agree with the previous comment on the claws being useless, they are too thick, I have to get my nail bar out if the nail isn't sticking out by almost half and inch, and the worst is sticking it in the top plate of walls to lift them up onto my toes, I have split several top plates right in half! Simple fix though, just give them a little workover with the grinder and I'm happy!
~ Paul H., 2010just wanted to tell you thanks I've owned my 18 oz finisher for about a year now and i gotta say i love it. this is the best hammer there is hands down even the very expensive alternative doesn't come close. so from someone who uses it every day making my living thanks for the quality made in the old u s a. hope you have a great year.
